Serenity Bay is located about eight miles west of Wilkesboro about 1 / 2 mile north of the road 268. It is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains located between Asheville, Greensboro, Boone, and Charlotte, with quick access to Highway 421 and I-77.

Wilkes County has a population of about 65,000 people, with the town of Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro having a combined population of more than 8,000. From Wilkesboro, you can take day trips to the beach or go skiing in the snow in the mountains. With an average temperature of 77 degrees in July, no wonder this region has become so popular.

Designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1975, Stone Mountain confined to the north by the Blue Ridge Parkway and west by the Thurmond Chatham game lands. More than 13 747 hectares of mountains offer opportunities beauty for outdoor activities of all kinds.

Rendezvous Mountain Educational State Forest – Welcome to Rendezvous Mountain Educational State Forest, a unique outdoor experience! Located in the rugged Blue Ridge Mountains this lush mountains displayed in a magnificent forest of the most scenic North Carolina. Its features are accessible through a series of well-marked trails, accented by exhibits and displays depicting the ecology of forest under management. At Rendezvous Mountain Educational State Forest, visitors can hear the wind in the trees, or trees can be heard telling a story. The Talking Tree Trail features "talking trees," each with a recorded message about itself, its site, and the history of forests. In addition, actual practices of forestry are explained in the Demonstration Forest Road. Near the beginning of the road, a natural amphitheater is available for special sessions or groups.

Wilderness Lodge Canoe, Kayak, and Mountain Biking – Canoes, kayaks and mountain bikes are available to meet recreation needs.

Yadkin River Greenway – The Yadkin River Greenway is a road and road greenway system that will establish a network of linear open spaces and protect link together the valuable community resources throughout the Yadkin River Valley in North Wilkesboro, Wilkesboro, and Wilkes County. By using the designated bike and pedestrian paths along the river, its tributaries, and the historic Overmountain Victory Trail, Wilkes County citizens and visitors can enjoy this area, many natural resources, cultural and recreational services. There are many historic sites along the Yadkin River Reddie and are not marked, but are an important part of the history of Wilkes County. As part of the development of greenways, several of the most famous historical kiosks and ecological, located along the course will explain the importance of these sites.
