Superior Kayaking
Kayaks? Kayaks?
What is a good kayak for a beginner to use on calm waters? How would a person become more familiar with kayaking? Are classes available? Eventually – years or decades from now – I’d like to go out on Lk. Superior. I’m in no hurry tho!
Kayaks may very in length, and there is an Open and a Closed Kayak, if you are just getting started, I would go with an open Kayak so that if it rolled, you could resurface easier; but the best is an closed kayak 10 ft. It will allow you to carry some gear and is easily meneuvered and will handle whatever type of water you wish to Kayak in. You can obtain some literature on safe kayaking and Kayaking as a sport by typing either of these into your search engine, or at a book store. Also, there are outfitters and guides on most recreational waters that can help you get started, and once you get started you won’t want to quit as it is a BLAST!!
