Queenstown Kayaking

I am planning to visit a friend in Queenstown, NZ in January and am bewildered by the route options!?

Direct with Air New Zealand is £960 is too much.

Have constructed a route using Air Asia to Kuala lumpur then a seperate flight to the Gold Coast then onwards with an Australian budget carrier to Christchurch (still have to get to Queenstown…!). This all comes to £880 though includes 2 nights each in KL and the Gold Coast which I would like…

Anyone have any tips? My perfect journey would involve one or two interesting stopovers on the way (anywhere really!) and then getting back as quickly as possible.

Though any route that came in under £700 would seal the deal…

Any hints? btw – have tried all comparison sites I can think of (Kayak etc…).

Thanks in advance.

Your choice from Christchurch is fly with air new Zealand or get a bus. You could look at www.grabaseat.co.nz and keep looking to see if a deal comes upthe deals change most days and get sold fastYour 2 nights in kuala lumpar and the goldcoast sound great you can stay in a backpackers or look at www.wotif.com.au/gold Coast for a nice hotel the airport is on the Goldcoast is quite a distance from Surfers paradise but you have some great beaches near the airport Your pound is not good for coming over just now. Air asia and Tiger airways are budget airlines so you pay for your food on board. Take a look at emirates and also sometimes air new Zealand have deals that if you travel international then you can travel free on domestic in NZ
