Why do I feel bad for walking on my girlfriend?

We've been together 7 years and I left this morning. Was aborted last night – was kayaking in a grade 4 river she knew it was dangerous and even more dangerous to be pregnant. She collapsed and instead of rolling for more than pull back spray deck outside in 'panic' and traveled 200 meters into the river under water until they reached a face first stone.
