Has anyone had good experience with a website discount travel?

I need to book a hotel, and I looked at all the discount websites for travel, such as kayaking, Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, hotels.com, Hotwire, etc, but when I tried to call someone for information and could not get the customer service, I suspect, so she started looking at the reviews for these companies. (www.my3cents.com), and they all seem to be a scam! Has anyone had a good experience with a discount travel site, if so what? Is there any way to get a discounted hotel room? Thanks in advance.
