Which adirondack non-motorized lake is the most beautiful for a paddle?

Looking for a quiet hidden gem for kayaking surrounded by tall mountain peaks – a lake where you feel like you’re out west, rather than in upstate NY. I’ve got a heavy kayak, so preferably no long portages.

Probably St. Regis. There are 57 other non-motorized lakes in the St, Regis Canoe Area but it is the largest at 400 acres with 4 islands. Very short portages in most cases. It’s the largest canoe-only complex in the Northeastern states, I believe.
