Kayaking Hawaii Big Island
Cool things to do in Kauai, Hawaii?
I’m going there in June with some family. We’ll be staying in Princeville. Any suggestions on places to visit/ things to do? We like kayaking, hiking, ATV, etc. But if you have a specific one to suggest, please let me know. Also, is there like a volcano park or anything like that? I know Big Island has one, so that’s why I’m asking about Kauai. Thanks!
To “hula ula ula”:
I think you mean “There are no active volcanoes on Kauai”. I did not clarify whether I wanted to visit active or inactive volcanoes, I simply inquired about a park with volcanoes in it open to visitors. So thanks for wasting everyone’s time with your childish immature reply.
Love Kauai!
Since you will be in Princeville, there are ranches that have hiking, horseback riding, and zipline tours.
I think our favorites are rafting the Na Pali coastline and the helicopter tours.
The Na Pali coastline is absolutely stunning. It is either the first or second (can’t remember heh) fastest eroding coastline in the world. It has some open air areas that you can raft into. There is also a lot of history that is fun to learn on the tours. There are rafting and sailing tours available. We did the rafting on the Zodiacs with Na Pali Riders because we like the size and agility of the boat (can go into the open air caves and get closer to the coast than the sailboats). Lots of dolphins swam alongside us. It is an amazing experience.
Most people don’t know this, but Kauai has a “grand canyon”. It also has an amazing amount of waterfalls. Remember that scene at the beginning of Jurassic Park where the helicopter lands near a waterfall? That was filmed on Kauai. Anyway, a one hour tour of the island and you will see areas that you absolutely can’t reach without a helicopter. We rode with Safari Helicopters because of the cost and good feedback on their pilots and helicopter visibility. I have to add, I am deathly afraid of heights! This was my first helicopter flight and it was smoother than a plane – I kid you not. My stomach did not lurch once.
Kauai is beautiful! It has the most “untouched” feeling of the main Hawaiian islands visited. We did not visit any volcanic things while on Kauai (did it on the Big Island) so I can’t speak to that – sorry.
Have a great trip!!! Mahalo!
