Can I use an small Inflatable boat in the Thames?

I was thinking about buying an small inflatable boat without any engine and go down the Thames in a sunny day starting in North London. Is that legal? Do I need any special licence? I’ve seen people doing kayaking before, but I don’t know if they’re part of a club or anything. Is there any time window when it’s allowed?

I don’t know the thames or London, but from your question if your inflatable has no O.B I reckon you must be suicidal! Get a decent 16/ 18 foot zodiac with at least a 20 H P O B with all the safety gear you need and a life jacket, first, talk to the port authorities get a power boat course with a certificate at the end of the week, see R Y A for courses. I reckon you doing that on the thames would be like taking a row boat across the Dover straights.
In fact the Sea would be safer when you done the course try Island Cruising Club Salcombe learn to SAIL much better. Oh yes can you swim?
