Any good rivers to kayak on around Kansas City, Missouri?

Does anyone know any good kayaking rivers that have free drop off and pick up points around Kansas City, MO? I own a kayak and would like to do a day trip around kansas city, but the closest ones I can find are about 3-4 hours away.

Drop off and pick up that you’re referring to is termed Shuttling for most paddlers….and unfortunately, I’ve never seen it done for free. The best way to do it is to find someone to paddle with – look for a paddling club in your area or check with a local paddlesports shop. You can log into www.paddling.net and post a message on their “Getting together & going paddling” message boards, list your location and that you’re looking for others to paddle with.

Meet your paddling partners at your selected launch spot. Unload all the boats and gear, and drive all the cars to the end spot (leave 1 person behind to watch the boats, or hide them in weeds or lock them to a tree). At the take out parking location, all the vehicle drivers climb back into one car and head back to the boats. Easy.

OR, get a relative or friend to drop you off at the start and pick you up at the end…

Should be several day trip routes in your area without driving too far…
