Malibu Kayaking

What is the Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 XL as leisure and fishing kayak?
I am thinking of buying a kayak, and have found a local dealer who has a tandem, sit at the top, but I have no opinion on the kayak. My plan is to use as a fishing kayak, alone and as a way to pass the time with friends (the inexperienced kayakers) The pros and cons of this kayak? Thank you! Eileen
The Malibu 2 XL decent rowing as one, that not all double kayaks do. At 34 inches wide, is going to be very stable. Wooden kayaks I'm going to build are 22 to 24 inches wide and I go fishing and crabbing there. Torque is 61 pounds for a plastic 14 feet. Some women who struggle to get on top of cars themselves. Thule and Yakima systems while enabling lift roller wieght only half of the boat, even by yourself. You should figure that is a pot of hot water. I paddle my closed deck boats past icebergs just literally but with the paddle jacket, neoprene gloves and a skirt well. With a sit-on-top, use a wet or dry suit to keep warm if it is windy or cold. Snug installation lycra tights and tops would be a way to extend their season a bit using what you already may have in your closet. Sit-on-tops in general are very stable, but not as fast as the narrow boats. They can handle moderate cut and small waves, but can not bow to the shore and navigate them as you can with whitewater boats tourism and some kayaks. You also have limited storage equipment. Great for a day trip if whiplash dry bag behind you. But there's no room for camping equipment at night. Overall it seems a good match for their use. $ 739 at REI
